The Craft Whisky Club is the Number 1 Craft Whisky Members Club in Scotland which deliver the next Whisky classics, direct to your door. The founder of the company was going to participate to a trade show in a few weeks and needed advertising material to present the services of his company. Banners/Kakemono and flyers were required. When the client came to our office, he had a specific idea in mind; like at the hairdresser, he came with a photo of what he wanted. It was a bird view shot of his whisky with the food pairing randomly displayed around.
The challenge was to not get stuck on the idea of the client but still stick with the bird view style photography. Thanks to an analysis of the company’s values and a good understanding of the message and emotions the client wanted to communicate, we were able to create a better story to the initial concept. The name of the whisky was one of our main inspiration, named “While we wait” we imagine the experience customers had while tasting this whisky. "On a rare sunny day, a man is sitting on a woody chair, in his almost infinite garden, in the middle of the Highlands. The sun hit the whisky glass in his hands, and he feel the comfortable feeling of the sun beam warming him up."
With the whisky glass in the center of the tasting notes, the sun hit the glass/bottle and create a sundial, while the handmade composition remind the crafting quality of the whisky.
Now, when I look back, I would shoot the photography on a different background and do further exploration around the atmosphere of the photography.
